Words of Commendation

Wan Rosalind Wong was my student in piano during her undergraduate years at UCLA. Since then she has earned a Masters degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree.

After 45 years of teaching piano at various universities, Wan Rosalind Wong stands out as one of the most outstanding students I had the privilege to teach. Rosalind is not only an exceptionally talented and intelligent musician, but also a dynamic and self-confident personality. With her boundless energy, infectious enthusiasm, resourcefulness, sense of commitment and discipline to the music profession, I have no doubt that she will become an important personality in the music world.

For many years now, Wan Rosalind Wong has been performing regularly in and outside UCLA, in solo repertoire, many concertos—such as Mozart, Grieg, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich—with innumerable chamber music groups, and with a diversity of repertoire that covers from Baroque to composers of today. I am happy to give Wan Rosalind Wong my strongest recommendation.

Respectfully,

Walter Ponce
Distinguished Professor of Music
Former Director of Keyboard Studies
